Grounding Kit
The purpose of this kit is to improve an
already existing system. Most automobile manufacturers do
not supply an adequate grounding for their cars. This kit
will provide for a sound grounding for your electrical
system and could result in the recovery of lost spark, lost
power and provide better gas mileage.
Some recommended tools:
Socket Set
Screwdrivers
You should
park your car where it will be out of the way for the
duration of this installation. You will need to disconnect
your battery’s negative terminal and possibly remove the
front bumper in order to access the battery.
Removing and Replacing the Negative Battery
Terminal:
MAKE SURE YOU
ARE WORKING WITH THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL!! INSTALLING THESE
WIRES TO THE POSITIVE COULD MAKE THE BATTERY EXPLODE OR
PERMANENTLY DAMAGE YOUR CARS ELECTRICAL SYSTEM!!

SIDE MOUNT
Remove the negative terminal using an 8MM
socket or wrench. The center "nut" of the cable (once
removed) can be pushed out from the cables plastic coating.
Remove the nut that holds the cable to the battery. Replace
this with the Gold terminal in the Grounding Kit. Reconnect
the terminal to the battery.
TOP MOUNT
You have two options
depending on the type of top post terminal you have. Most
of them have nuts that can be loosened and the initial cable
attached. Here is a sample picture of our test car, which
we installed the cables on:

Attaching Ground Cables
Now you need to determine
which cable you are going to attach first. Since all cars
are different, here is a list of recommended grounding
points. The first cable you attach should reach to your
first select grounding point under the hood. You can
determine which cable will best serve as the "initial
cable". The cables attach in a "daisy chain" meaning where
the first cable terminates the second will originate. The
second cable will then go to another grounding point and
that is where the 3rd cable will originate. Here
are some recommended grounding points.
Alternator bracket
Radiator mounts
ECM/ECU if it’s under the hood
Strut towers
Throttle Body
Engine Block
Fuel rail bracket
Do not mount to or
near the exhaust manifold(s). These wires will take a
lot of heat but not as much as the exhaust puts out.
I would keep them at least 6-7 inches away from the exhaust
manifold(s).
There are, of course, other places to mount
to but you need to determine these for your particular
car/truck.
Once you establish which cable will go in
first you can attach it to the stud of the gold terminal and
tighten the lock washer and nut on the terminal. Make sure
the terminal is not going to interfere or touch any metal
part of the car. Even though this is the negative terminal,
sparks can be bad.
The next step is simply running the rest of
the cables from one grounding point to the next. They do
not need to return to the negative terminal. They can
terminate anywhere you wish.
